Well, okay, haha, good joke! That's too simplistic. That's the goal of every raiding guild out there. So where is Blackthorn different? Easy. It's in our cheesy website buttons. No, not just that. We like to have fun (sometimes too much), but there's no harm in that.
We would consider ourselves a casual raiding guild. Casual but good.
There are some who might shudder at a word like 'casual' in conjunction with 'progression raiding', but not us. We look that demon in the eye and we bite that bullet. In reality, we're not afraid of using it because we know it only describes our raiding schedule, which is definitely a lot looser than 4-5 day raiding guilds, and doesn't occupy a player's weekends.
Put a better way, we give time for our raiders' real lives. We understand they have 'em, we're understanding about boyfriends, wives, kids, jobs, school, and all that sort of thing. We don't fault raiders for taking time off due to RL issues.
That being said, that doesn't stop us from progression, that doesn't diminish any of our drive to conquer and achieve. Quite a few of us have been raiding since Vanilla, with fond memories of trudging up two feet of snow, uphill and downhill, in nature resist gear, just to get our attunement quests, you damn young whippersnappers. Back then it was no thing to raid almost every day of the week, 20mans and 40mans. Now WoW has changed quite a lot from how it used to be, some of the shininess has rubbed off, and most of us have refocused our priorities to take a less insane approach to raiding. However, our skill, experience, and unexplainable fixation to see raiding content still remains. Once you have that, its hard to give it up.
P.R.-wise, we're a pretty low profile guild. We prefer to try to stay behind the scenes, Neutral Good, drama free, and staying out of Trade Chat tardfests.
The basic mission of Blackthorn is to get shit down. We're not about SERVER FIRSTS (though we were close to firsts with ToC/ToGC10), but we're still competitive. We have the determination and willpower to kick ass and take names with all the raiding content Blizzard throws at us, but we refuse to kill ourselves doing it. We understand how a raid should work, and we refuse to have raiders in whom we don't have complete confidence in. We're looking to progress and the numbers have proven that.
So if you like how we roll feel free to apply to join our family. We're a fun group to be around and we prove that you don't have to be in a hardocre guild to clear content.
